Easyworship freezes and will not go live with PowerPoint files

Easyworship will not go live with PowerPoint presentations. We’ve always used the same files, but it would not go live and keeps freezing upon attempts.

EW7

We have the exact same issue happening - I've reinstalled Microsoft 365 and tried on both easy worship 7 and 8.  We've spent 3 hours trying to get Power Point to play through EW7 and EW8 today but have had no success.  It just hangs, all other slides work but power point will always fail.  I see it starts power point through the Windows task manager but It's like EW doesn't acknowledge or take control of that slides so it doesn't do anything.

We had same issues this morning. Had to use “work around” to get through services. Was working correctly on Friday. Nothing would correct it today. Big issue for us
We got it fixed. Ended up uninstalling Microsoft Office and reinstalling it then opened Easyworship and the files operated fine. I tried just doing a repair of Microsoft Office, but that didn’t work. Had to totally uninstall and reinstall.

Using EW 7.4.1.9 - Schedules with PowerPoint ran well every day (twice a day, 6 days a week, 4 times on Sunday) since February when this new MSI Windows 11 PC meeting EW advanced PC and GPU specs was installed.  We are running PPT from Office 365 for Business - En - US.  Ran the 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time EW schedule at the vigil Mass on Saturday (June 27) evening with no issue.  Sunday morning, (June 28) EW seems slower than normal and froze when slide deck was advanced to live view and would not show up in live output window.

Rebooted - no change; installed all updates and rebooted - no change; ran Office 365 online repair - no change; switched to twin MSI back up box with its own instance - no change;  created a new schedule and and added a PPT that ran well last month - no change, now hangs.  If I try and get back to EW slides, the delay is at least 16 seconds.  Our workaround today was to convert the PPT to *mp4 and upload it.

Interesting..I'm using EW 6 and the same thing happened...starting yesterday (June 28) PPT doesn't work in Easy Worship at ALL...graphics work, movies work, but no PPT work at all. We don't have Office installed; we used Open Office up 'til a few months ago, and have been using Libre Office since then. However, everything was working until Sunday.

We have the same problem as the users above,   since this weekend. No go live with Easyworship!   Also big issue for us so please help!!

Same issue. Have tried the suggested fixes and nothing helps.

Same here. There was an update to 365 this morning and I'm thinking that could be the problem.

Same here. There was an update to 365 this morning and it hasn't worked since.

Just an FYI - I was able to get this to work by uninstalling the latest update for Powerpoint/Microsoft 365.  This is probably a short term solution but should patch everything until EasyWorship can update the software.

The easiest way to do this yourself is to probably use "ChatGPT" or anther AI to just walk you through everything as you may be on a different version (probably not thought since I'm pretty sure the latest version is what broke it).

I'd just ask ChatGPT to walk you through "uninstalling the latest microsoft powerpoint update".  It will probably ask you questions to just verify the current version number you are on.

These were my steps but they may not be the same for everyone:

If PowerPoint presentations suddenly stop working in EasyWorship (while native EasyWorship slides still work), and PowerPoint opens in the background but never displays the slideshow, rolling Microsoft 365 back to the previous version may resolve the issue.

Step 1: Close all Office applications

Close: EasyWorship, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook

Step 2: Open an Administrator Command Prompt:

Click Start.

Type cmd.

Right-click Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator.  (This step is important)

Step 3: Change to the Office Click-to-Run folder

Run this command:

cd /d "%ProgramFiles%\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ClickToRun"

Press Enter.

Step 4: Roll back Microsoft 365

Run this command:

OfficeC2RClient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.20026.20168

Press Enter.

The Microsoft Office updater should start downloading and installing the previous version.

Step 5: Restart

When the installation completes:

Restart your computer.

The same happened here on 7/1/2026.  PowerPoint go live just displays a blank screen. If you display the next song, it will after a few seconds.  Then if there is another PowerPoint, the last slide of the song is displayed, but not the PowerPoint.  This is a major problem. Using Easyworship 7.4.1.9. Reinstalling it did no fix the problem.
